Best ways to keep your eyes healthy

The eyes are the best gift given by god. With the help of our eyes we are able to see everything, without it the life will become dark. Eyes are very delicate and even in minor accidents one can lose it. Even a small particle causes irritation and redness in the eye. But sometimes it’s not because of dust, it can inner problem of eye. Eye problems can happen in any age. Some problems can be cured at home and for some you have to rush to the doctors. Eye diseases start with minor problems and if not cured then it turn into major. Colour blindness, night blindness, cataracts, excess tearing are some eye problems which happen due to our lifestyle and eating habits. Here are some tips which will be helpful for you to maintain healthy eyes.
1.       Healthy Diet
Healthy eyes can be maintained by having healthy diet. To achieve good eyes foods rich in Vitamin A, C, and E, Lutein, Fatty acids and zinc should be taken. Here are some foods which will help you to get healthy diet.
·         Carrot
·         Spinach
·         Eggs
·         Sweet potatoes
·         Nuts and dry food
·         Fish
·         Salmon
2.       Stop Smoking
Smoking is waste of money and health. The smoke inhaled dissolve in our blood and is circulated all over the body. Besides causing lung diseases it also welcomes cataracts and damage to optic nerve of eyes. Smoking should be avoided at any cost to get healthy eyes.
3.       Take a break from computers
Life without computers is now impossible. A lot of work is done on computers and high focus is needed. Continuously staring at computers causes eye strain, blurry vision, dry eyes, headaches and trouble focusing at a distance. You cannot leave your work but can take some measures to protect your eyes like:
·         If your eyes become dry, blink more.
·         Give rest to your eyes in every 20 minutes and look at 20 feet way for 20 seconds; this will help you to focus.
·         Wear proper glasses or contact lenses.
·         Use anti-glare screen for your computer.
4.       Wear eye wears
The UV rays can cause cataracts and muscular degeneration. Wear glasses that blocks UV rays. There are polarized lenses which reduces glare. Wear additional sunglasses to form an extra protective layer.
5.       Regular eye checkups
Eye health checkups should on regular intervals such that health of the eye is known. Simple eye problem can be known at home but diseases like glaucoma have no symptoms and can be only known by examining the eye.
6.       Apply lubricants
Daily dust and other particles enter your eyes which cannot be washed off by water which causes irritation, dry eyes or excess of tears. Apply ointment to your eyes consulting to your doctor. This will keep your eyes healthy.
7.       Exercise

There are exercises not only to tone your body in fact there are even exercises for eyes like blinking, palming, the figure eight, near and far focusing and zooming. These exercises will improve eye flexibility, focusing and other problems of eyes.
